Peter Witte is a lecturer who has taught fiction, literature, academic writing, and professional writing for the English department. His writing has been published in numerous literary journals and magazines such as The Threepenny Review, The Sun, Tin House's "The Open Bar," The Rumpus, and Hobart. He is a reader for the New England Review. In addition to his creative work, Witte has worked as an urban planner, analyst, and writer in public, nonprofit, and private sector positions.

A native of Illinois, Witte currently lives in University Park with his wife, a philosopher, their two children, and a dog who can fetch balls like you've never seen. In addition to reading, writing, drawing, and teaching, he enjoys cooking and eating, drinking coffee and seltzer water, and exercising, especially cycling and strength training.

The first happened years ago. I was rushing through a busy train station when I tripped, fell, and took a nosedive, landing belly down. For a moment I laid there, semi-embarrassed, in pain. In my peripheral vision I could see feet wandering by. I picked myself up and limped to my destination.
