Translating the York Cycle: Medieval Drama Staged Reading

College of Arts and Humanities | English Monday, November 18, 2024 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Tawes Hall, 2115

All are invited to attend "Translating the York Plays" — a staged reading and script workshop for two short medieval plays, newly translated from Middle English into Modern English. The plays in question, "Joseph’s Trouble About Mary" and "Christ’s Trial Before Herod," are taken from the medieval York Corpus Christi Cycle.

These translations will premier in summer 2025 as part of the York Play 2025 project—a festival production of the complete play cycle hosted by the University of Toronto. The readings of these scripts-in-progress will be followed by an audience Q&A.
