Sarah holds an MA in English – Cultural Studies of the Asia-Pacific from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and is currently finishing her dissertation titled “Rhetorical Bodies: Stories of Life, Death, and Desire” in the Department of English at the University of Hawaii. Her areas of expertise include (1) feminist and Indigenous rhetorics, including cultural rhetorics and rhetorical practices, identity and/in place; embodiment; and storywork; (2) feminist and Indigenous research methods, including practices of invitation, acknowledgment, reciprocity, and gratitude; and (3) civic engagement, specifically in the writing classroom; equity and justice in writing programs and classroom pedagogy; and institutional-community relationships with focus on ancestral lands. Sarah is a reviewer for College Composition and Communication (2019-Present), and has two forthcoming publications: a book chapter in an edited volume about trauma and pedagogy (Routledge); and a co-authored cultural rhetorics pedagogy article (Constellations: A cultural rhetorics publishing space).
