Brianne Friel
Dr. Brianne Friel has a Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition from the University of Maryland College Park. She is a full-time lecturer at The University of Maryland College Park, where she teaches academic and professional writing and global literature. Dr. Friel was formerly an Associate Professor of English composition and literature at Montgomery College, where she was also coordinator of the Women's Studies Program, acting director of Disability Support Services, and producer and host of a local TV show. Dr. Friel taught for the Department of Education's federal TRIO program, which, according to its website, supports "low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs." She was the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship to study the rhetoric of women in antiquity. Dr. Friel currently serves as an academic coach for Achieving the Promise Academy at Montgomery College.
