ENGL479Y - Selected Topics in English and American Literature after 1800; Seminar in Poetry Translation

This class will engage practical and theoretical problems of translating poetry.  Readings will explore a wide range of historical, aesthetic, and theoretical issues regarding translation, while exercises and an in-depth project will give students practical experience translating poetry.  There is no requirement for fluency in a language other than English, but students will find some competency in a foreign language useful.

Prerequisite: Two English courses in literature or permission of ARHU-English department.
Repeatable to 9 credits if content differs. Cross-listed with CMLT679T. Credit granted for ENGL479Y or CMLT679T.
