ENGL388T - Writing, Research, and Media Internships; Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities Internships

Join a research team of senior scholars, graduate students, and undergraduates from across the university.

The Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (MITH; http://www.mith.umd.edu) is offering internships for up to 3 credit hours on topics including the following: data mining and analysis of large text collections, curation of digital research data, and preservation of video games and other born-digital archival materials. Interns will spend at least 8 hours per week working on one or more MITH projects of their choice, including the Shelley-Godwin Archive (SGA: http://shelleygodwinarchive.org/). Other MITH-related projects may be specified by the intern and approved by the MITH sponsor. Interns will be asked to write a short progress report or research paper at mid-term and another at the end of the semester. Besides working on cutting-edge humanities projects, interns will acquire skills increasingly necessary for graduate study and advancement in today's work force and will be trained in appropriate technologies for use by English students/scholars. To apply, please contact Purdom Lindblad (purdom@umd.edu).
