The Eighteenth-Century Intelligencer published Gerard's review of the book Reading Smell in Eighteenth-Century Fiction, by Emily C. Friedman (Bucknell UP, 2016) in its October 2017 issue. Gerard also presented a paper, "Emily Dickinson's Manuscript Readers: An Alternative Reception History," at the Reception Study Society conference, September 21-23, 2017 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
