Danuta Hinc chaired the Slavic and Eastern European Languages and Literatures panel at South Central MLA Conference in October 2021.

The South Central Modern Language Association officially includes the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi, but their members now range far and wide, both in the United States and abroad.

Their mission is to enhance their members’ involvement in scholarship, teaching, and research in the modern languages and literatures. They accomplish this through an annual conference held in one of their region’s popular cities; awards supporting travel, research, and conference papers; two annual newsletters containing calls for papers, grant announcements, member news, etc.; and the three times a year journal, South Central Review.
