Simone Drake Has Recent Publications and a Master's in Law

The Department congratulates Ph.D. recipient Simone Drake on her latest accomplishments. 

Simone Drake, an assistant professor of African American and African Studies at The Ohio State University recently graduated in May from Moritz School of Law at The Ohio State University with a Masters in the Study of Law. Her first book, Critical Appropriations: African American Women and the Construction of Transnational Identities, is forthcoming spring 2014 from Louisiana State University Press, Southern Literary Studies series. Simone’s second book, When We Imagine Grace: Black Men and Subject Making, is under contract with the University of Chicago Press. Her paper entitled “More than Nationalism in Charles Burnett’s Killer of Sheep and Kasi Lemmon’s Talk to Me” was published in Spectrum: A Journal on Black Men (Spring 2013).
