February 27, 2019 English | Center for Literary and Comparative Studies

Scott Trudell’s book Unwritten Poetry: Song, Performance, and Media in Early Modern England is out in March from Oxford University Press. The book reveals the importance of performed vocal music in theories and practices of English Renaissance literature.

Trudell also guest edited a special issue of Restoration on “The Intermedia Restoration,” which brings the interdisciplinary conversation in media studies back to England c. 1660-1700.

He and his digital humanities team also launched the beta version of Early Modern Songscapes, a website on the musical performance of Renaissance English poetry. Have a look at www.songscapes.org.
