Jeanne Fahnestock, English professor, won the Rhetoric Society of America’s 2012 Book Award for “Rhetorical Style: The Uses of Language in Persuasion.” The RSA announcement included these comments: "The field of nominees was very large and quite competitive, but your book stood out for its utter originality, strength of argument, and integration of multiple fields' approaches to language within a sophisticated rhetorical framework. Simply put, there is nothing quite like this book out there, and we appreciate the scope and precision of a work of scholarship that will be of value to rhetorical studies and many other fields for years to come." The award was presented to Fahnestock at a conference in Philadelphia on May 27, 2012. Fahnestock has also been named a RSA Fellow.  Fellows “have produced scholarship in rhetorical studies that is remarkable for its quality and quantity, have participated in the work of the RSA, whether on the Board, on its committees, or in other capacities, and have worked to increase the visibility and influence of rhetorical studies through public lectures, teaching, advocacy, or other activities.”
