In Memoriam: Mary Turner, 1940-2020

Mary Dustin Turner passed away this past Saturday, February 15.

Mary Turner was born in New York in 1940 and later graduated from Ohio State University. She taught in various capacities at the University of Maryland and elsewhere within the University System of Maryland. She taught Technical Writing in PWP from 1980 to 1987, and then from 1987 to 1990 she taught Technical Writing for University of Maryland University College at U.S. airbases in England. Mary stayed in London from 1990 to 2004 to work as a business training consultant, a period of time in which she also wrote the manual Teach Yourself Business Writing. Mary returned to UMD in 2004, where she taught Business Writing until 2018. She retired in May 2018 after teaching 98 classes for PWP.

Mary Turner is survived by a son, daughter, and brother.
