Professor Matthew Kirschenbaum receives the Kandice Chuh Mentorship Award during GEO spring ceremony

Professor Matthew Kirschenbaum receives the Kandice Chuh Mentorship Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a teacher and advisor. Kandice Chuh Mentorship Award is given each year to a faculty member who demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to mentoring graduate students through intellectual generosity, academic support, and professional development.

GEO members especially commented upon his encouragement in terms of professional development, his capacity to give advice, his wide-ranging scholarly expertise, and his commitment to helping students develop their own scholarly networks and provide access to his own.

One student observed, "Matt Kirscehnbaum strikes that rare balance between challenging and compassionate. He is a master of gently insisting on your best work, and then better than your best, because he knows that you’re capable of it."
