March 7-8: Middle Atlantic Symposium in the History of Art

Join the National Gallery of Art and the University of Maryland Department of Art History and Archeaeology for the convening of this forty-fourth annual session.
Events begin with a tea in the Atrium of the Art/Sociology Building at the University of Maryland at 5 pm on Friday, followed at 6 pm with the George Levitine Lecture. Dr. Nicholas Penny, Director of the National Gallery in London, will deliver his lecture "Imperial Anxiety in Painting and Poetry," followed by a dinner (by subscription). Students will present their papers the following day at the National Gallery of Art, where the Symposium will conclude with a reception.
