John L. Bradley, Former Colleague, Passes Away

Professor John L. Bradley, who taught in the English department in the late 1970s and early 1980s, died last spring.

Before coming to the University of Maryland, Professor Bradley taught at Ohio State University and at Durham University in the UK, where he was chair. He wrote and edited numerous books about the Victorian sage John Ruskin, including Ruskin's Letters from Venice, 1851-1852 (Yale U.P., 1955); The Letters of John Ruskin to Lord and Lady Mount-Temple (Ohio State U.P., 1964); Ruskin: The Critical Heritage (Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1984); [in collaboration with Ian Ousby], The Correspondence of John Ruskin and Charles Eliot Norton (Cambridge U.P., 1987).

At the time of his death last April, he was 94 years old and living in Pasadena. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and a daughter.
