Jeremy Metz Wins the First Annual John Fuegi Essay Prize

The Comparative Literature Program is happy to announce the recipient of the first annual John Fuegi Essay Prize.

The award was open to graduate students in Comparative Literature, SLLC, and English. The essay was to have been produced for a class or publication during the academic year 2010-2011. The paper had to be written in English, deal with at least two language/literatures, and demonstrate that the texts were analyzed in their original languages of publication.

This year's winner is Jeremy Metz. His essay "Who is Frantz Fanon Haunting? Reading Mayotte Capecia and Jamaica Kincaid in the shadow of Peau noire, masques blancs" was written for English 630, taught by Professor Sangeeta Ray, Fall 2010. It was revised for English 699, with Professor Ray, Spring 2011.
