Brian Richardson edited and introduced a special issue of the journal, Unnatural Narrative: Theory and Practices, in Frontiers of Narrative Studies, Spring 2018


He gave an invited lecture on narrative theory at Tel Aviv University and a series of three lectures at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. He was a Visiting Professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he gave two more talks and taught a class on Joyce’s Ulysses. At the University of Paris 7 (Diderot), he led a seminar for students and faculty on unnatural narrative theory. He read a paper on the poetics of contradictory plots at the Narrative Conference in Montreal, was an invited participant in the roundtable on Plot at the Society for Novel Studies conference at Cornell University, and gave a talk on “Reading in Ulysses: Artistry and Desire” at the International James Joyce Symposium in Antwerp in June. He examined two PhD Candidates and helped evaluate an international PhD program in Comparative Studies at the University of Lisbon. He was appointed an external mentor of a dissertation student the Freie Universität Berlin.
