Academic and Professional Writing Programs Win CTE Award

Congratulations to the Academic Writing Program and Professional Writing Program in the Department of English, which have been jointly named the recipient of the Departmental Award for Excellence and Innovation in Undergraduate Teaching for 2012-2013

This award, made jointly by the campus Center for Teaching Excellence and the Office of Undergraduate Studies, recognizes the innovative contributions made by our writing programs to the university, and particularly notes the development of blended learning formats and multimodal assignments, as well as the undergraduate teaching assistant program.

Please join us in congratulating program directors Linda Macri and Scott Wible, who wrote the application and will receive the award at the Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference this Friday. The award carries a $5,000 prize for the department, which is intended to further our efforts at improving undergraduate teaching and learning. The department would also like to recognize the role played in these programmatic developments by Lea Chartock who, with Linda, wrote the successful proposal for a Provost's Blended Learning Initiative grant two years ago, which got us launched on blended formats in the writing programs.
