Engl-all Listserv Regulations

The engl-all listserv reaches all active English department tenure-line and professional track faculty, staff, graduate students, retirees, and those who may have other ongoing connections to the department (e.g. University librarians). Given the broad audience, messages sent to engl-all must apply to more than two subgroups listed above. Audience-specific messages should be sent to the appropriate listservs/groups.

All messages to the listserv are moderated by the Main English Office (englmeo@umd.edu). The following messages/subjects are generally prohibited:

  • Messages that inflame or attack others, or relating to personal or political views
  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, or potentially offensive messages, as determined by the moderator
  • Advertisements for items or services, SPAM, jokes, or memes
  • Anonymous messages

Notes of congratulations in response to an announcement should be sent directly to the applicable person, and will not be distributed via the listserv.
