Holly Smith — who feels a little weird referring to herself in the third person — is a longtime freelance writer and editor whose work has appeared in the Washington Post, Salon, CNB.com, USA Today's 10Best, More Mirth of a Nation, Brain, Child, and other publications. She’s editor-in-chief of the nonprofit Washington Independent Review of Books and was managing editor of the late, great Maryland Life magazine for many years. In 2014, she co-authored Seafood Lover’s Chesapeake Bay (Rowman & Littlefield), which is ironic since she doesn't eat fish. She’s also the mother of four, the grandmother of two, and a proud "Jeopardy!" bronze medalist.
