Andrew Howard
After receiving a B.A. and an M.A. in English from Texas Tech University, in 2005 and 2007 respectively, Andrew Howard went to Georgia College and State University, where he earned an M.F.A. in English and Creative Writing in 2010. A prolific author whose short fiction, reviews, interviews, and memoirs have appeared in numerous publications including The Sycamore Review (“Everyone You Will Ever Know,” Winter/Spring 2019), Mister Monacle (“After After All,” Spring 2018), and Trop Magazine (“A Casualty of Place,” January 29, 2014), Howard has also presented a plethora of conference talks, not only on his creative craft (“Making the Real Unreal: Fictionalizing a True Story” at the Association of Writers and Writers Programs Conference in February 12-15, 2009), but also on topics that relate directly to Composition Pedagogy. Talk titles include ““Distance Learning Shouldn’t Distance Learning: Designing Class Outreach for Remote Learning,” “The Unheard Voice: What Do Students Say (and Write) About Developmental English?”, and “Assessment, Continuous Improvement, and Scaling Best Practices.” Andrew is an avid musician, primarily with guitar, although he concedes that “the only way [he’s] earned any money with music was as the bass player for an 80’s cover band in Texas."
