Local Americanists: Sarah Sillin

UMD Alum Sarah Sillin shares the page proofs of an essay on Civil War cartoons, “Laughing at ‘Young Bull’: American Authority in Civil War Cartoons." Sarah Sillin, an assistant professor at Central Washington University, got her PhD at UMD in 2013, taught as a visiting assistant prof at Gettysburg College, and is now in her 2nd year at Central Washington U on the tenure track. She's published widely in 19th- and 20th-century American literary studies, and has developed an expertise in graphic arts and comics. For our Zoom Works-in-Progress version of Local Americanists, she will be sharing the page proofs of an essay on Civil War cartoons, “Laughing at ‘Young Bull’: American Authority in Civil War Cartoons,” which is forthcoming in J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists.
