Digital Studies Colloquium

Data Feminism

Digital Studies Colloquium

College of Arts and Humanities | English Friday, September 11, 2020 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm Virtual,

For our first Colloquium we will be reading Catherine D'Ignazio and Dr. Lauren F. Klein's Data Feminism (MIT Press, 2020). Dr. Lauren Klein will join the event as a guest speaker.

You may buy the book from any seller you wish, but it is also available open access in its entirety here.

Please start by reading the Introduction and chapters 1 and 2. That will give us all a common base. Then, please read at least one additional chapter and skim/browse the remainder. Note that each chapter is organized as a "principle" of data feminism, and if everyone chooses to read a little differently that will give us good collective coverage.

For the zoom link, please contact Professor Matthew Kirschenbaum (mgk@umd.edu).
