LGBT Lecture Series: Nayan Shah “Stranger Intimacy, Transience, and Unsettling History”

Nayan Shah is associate professor of history and affiliate faculty in Ethnic Studies, Critical Gender Studies, and the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies at the University California at San Diego. His recently published book, Stranger Intimacy: Contesting Race, Sexuality and the Law in the North American West, reveals the intersections between capitalism, the state’s treatment of immigrants, sexual citizenship, and racism in the first half of the twentieth century.
